The Partnership of the Year will be awarded to the rider and horse combination who demonstrate the best competitive results throughout the year while maintaining a high standard of conduct and integrity. These are the combinations rewarded for exhibiting the best qualities of working equitation including sportspersonship, ethical riding and excellent training.
Rules
1. Top three scores to count towards the final score. Only scores at official Victorian competitions (three or four phase), State and National Championships can be counted.
2. Combinations must score over 60% in dressage and style phases to be eligible for any points in that competition. This ensures combinations maintain a minimum standard and eliminates skewed results for combinations at higher levels with far fewer competitors who might get placings in their competitions despite poor performances.
3. If a rider wants interstate competition results counted then they need to submit results to ANWEVIC Committee during the competition year (ie before last competition of the year) for approval. As a guide, State and National Championships will definitely be accepted, other interstate competitions will be considered.
4. Points will be a sum of the top three points scored (ie raw final scores). This ensures higher scores get the advantage rather than getting points for placings that don’t take into account the number of competitors. The better a combination scores the higher their score, so this rewards good riding and good training. It also penalises elimination in a phase as no score will be recorded for that phase.
5. To be eligible for this award, riders must abide by all applicable Codes of Conduct and have no written complaints upheld against them throughout the year.
6. Partnership of the Year will run for each calendar year and points will accrue from 1 January to 31 December.
7. Riders must maintain current club and ANWE levy membership continuously throughout the year to be eligible for this award.
